a Journey

CNY is the season for:

• Steamboat sessions! I think the best family "stories" (gossip) are told whilst we're waiting for the yummies to cook. It's a reminder of how the simpler things in life are what matters, beyond the ang paos, pineapple tarts and kok chye. I'll have seafood/tofu soup everyday if it meant that I'll get to laugh as much or feel as bonded to my family as I do during the annual steamboat meet-up.
• Being overstuffed by my older cuzs, uncles and aunties who try to give me my year's supply of food till the next family gathering (which is a fortnight away!). *pats tummy*
• Openhouse! Having the entire group of family friends descend upon our home bearing warmth, laughter and even more goodies! *smiles* What's truly amazing, is that the friendship of our parents from when they were sweet 16 has been carried forward into the next generation-- us! My only wish is that we stay true to the bonds of friendship which has weathered the decades of life. :)
• Remebering how blessed I am by those who've become a part of me! Gurlfriends, y'all rawk!
